I’ve modeled for about five different groups since I’ve been modeling–there’s one group I work for regularly (the guy who runs it was really good about still finding work for me when there was a bit of a slowdown in the local arts scene a year or two ago).
I’ve also noticed there can be an ebb and flow with groups, depending on how often they meet, how they like to spread the work around among models (some try to work in as many different models as possible, while others stick to a select few models), preferences for male vs. female models, etc.
I love these weekly polls–you always have such interesting topics!
Thanks. I’m wondering how long I can keep coming up with poll ideas! Feel free to share ideas for upcoming polls based on your experiences.
As far as gigs go, I’m curious about the NYC experience. There must be hundreds of life modeling opportunities out there, with thousands of models vying for those slots.
A local artist just got back from NYC where he dropped in on a figure drawing group of about 25 artists and 4-5 models sharing the dais together. 4 hours, and on the breaks was live music (one model was a band member) and spoken word poetry. Must have been tons of fun.
So far I have modeled for 6 different groups and a handful of private artists. Love the polls!
